A regional call for California artists in Northern California encompassing the following counties: Amador, Calaveras, El Dorado, Sacramento, Placer, Sutter, Yuba, Nevada, Sierra, Plumas and Butte.

About the Call:

Step into the mesmerizing world of Golden State, our first annual juried exhibition that embraces the multifaceted essence of California. We implore artists explore the rich themes of California’s golden landscapes (flora and fauna), the allure of its historical gold rush, golden sunsets and the radiant brilliance of the color itself through striking golden hues.

Further, embrace the limitless possibilities of artistic expression as Golden State beckons artists to explore the boundless interpretations of the term, extending beyond the geographical connotations to encompass the golden moments, emotions, and aspirations that shape our lives and transform our state of mind.

The piece that best captures the theme of the show will be awarded ‘Best of Show’ and receive a prize of $150.

About Gallery 10:

Located in the charming community of Sutter Creek, California, Gallery 10 is housed in an historic building dating back to the 1890’s. Formerly a saloon and bordello, the structure stands as an example of the commercial architecture of the mid 1800’s.

Gallery 10 is an “artists’ gallery” managed by a select group of practicing artists who display their work along with a carefully chosen group of consignor artists and craftsmen.

Eligible Art
All 2-dimensional art welcome and any 3-dimensional artwork (glass/ceramic sculpture) that fits on a pedestal. Photography, fabric, and journal pages are also welcomed if prepared for hanging.

Must be original art and the artist’s own work. No reproductions/giclee prints (except for photography, digital art, or printmaking which utilizes limited edition prints due to the nature of the medium).

Must be for sale. Artwork labeled “NFS” will be juried out.

Juror:
This is a juried exhibition, and it will be co-curated by gallery owners Marie Martz-Mort, Marleen Olive, Julie Trail, and Catherine Woodruff. The piece that best captures the theme of the show will be awarded ‘Best of Show’ and receive a prize of $150.

Preparing Your Art:
Art MUST be wired and ready-to-hang. Artwork not wired and d-ringed will be juried out. Our gallery utilizes a wire hanging system that requires two D-rings on the back of your work.

​Eyelet screws, buckles, and sawtooth hangers are not usable.

Artists must attached the supplied label with each accepted piece of artwork, which includes: artist name, artwork title, size, medium, and price.

Entry Details:
Entry fee for up to 1 piece for $25.
Entry fee for up to 3 pieces for $35.
Entry fees are for consideration by the juror(s) and does not guarantee admission into the exhibit.
Entry fees are non refundable and cover the cost of hosting a regional show.​

Artwork Sales:

All Artwork must be for sale. Sales will be handled through Gallery 10. The gallery keeps 30% commission on all sales, the artist get 70%. Sold artwork must remain in the gallery until the end of the exhibition March 28, 2024.

Naming of Submitted Artwork:
Artwork Must be named as follows: Artist Last Name_Artwork Title_HxWxD_Price (example: picasso_guernica_24x36x1.5_2400.jpg)

Notifications: End of Day Friday February 16, 2024
Accepted Entries Drop Off: Sunday, February 25 and 26 between 12pm-3pm
Opening Reception: Saturday, March 2, 2024 2pm-4pm
Exhibit Dates: March 1 – March 28, 2024
Unsold Art Pickup: Sunday March 31 and April 1 12pm-3pm

Notifications & Art Pick Up
We will be notifying accepted entries via email by end of day on Friday February 16, 2024.

If you do NOT receive an email, then your art was not accepted into this show.
* Accepted online entries MUST be ready to drop-off at the gallery on Sunday, February 25 and 26 between 12pm-3pm

** Late drop offs will not be included in the show.

​*** Photography / Digital Art should be printed by the deadline date due to the tight turn-around time for accepted pieces.

Art MUST be wired and ready-to-hang. Artwork not wired and d-ringed will be juried out. Our gallery utilizes a wire hanging system that requires two D-rings on the back of your work. We recommend these D-rings HERE and Soft Strand No.5 wire HERE.

Eyelet screws, buckles, and sawtooth hangers are not usable.

Artists must sign, title, and add your artwork’s size, medium, and price on the backside of the piece. It cannot be left blank.

Canvas pieces must be gallery wrapped with clean painted edges. Wood panels much have clean wood edges painted or stained, just not messy.

Shipping Artwork:

The artist is responsible for shipping costs to and from the gallery. Each accepted piece of artwork must arrive with the supplied label, which includes: artist name, artwork title, size, medium, and price.

NO FREIGHT SHIPPING PLEASE.

Artists must issue pre-paid return labels for their works through UPS or FedEx. We do not arrange shipping in any other manner. Works must have pre-paid return labels through FedEx or UPS to be returned which allows us to call for pick up as the Center’s insurance does not cover transporting work offsite to local shipping companies or the United States Postal Service, which is why the postal service is not an option for shipping. PLEASE MAKE YOUR RETURN LABEL IS EASY TO FIND UPON UNPACKING. Clearly indicate any packing directions for return of works

Works should be shipped in reusable containers/boxes and packaging  for return.

Works that do not include a return label, and/or works that are not picked up within one month of the end of the exhibition become property of the Gallery 10. NO PACKING PEANUTS. Works packaged with packing peanuts will be returned immediately and not included in the exhibition.
