Golden State: Third Annual Juried Exhibition invites artists from across the United States to submit works that engage California’s golden landscapes, its flora and fauna, and its storied gold rush.

Exhibition Prospectus

This is a national Call for Artists. Artists must live in the United States at the time of application, and be 18 or older.

Payment of $25 is for the first entry and $5 for each additional images (1 work = $25, 2 works = $30, 3 works = $35, 4 works = $40, 5 works = $45, and 6 works = $50). Entry fees do not guarantee admission into the exhibit. Entry fees cover the cost of hosting a national show. Eventbrite fees are paid by applicants.

Golden State is an open medium juried exhibition of original and unique 2D and 3D artworks. This exhibition will feature work in a variety of styles such as (but not limited to): Realism, Traditional, Abstract, Modern, Impressionist, Pop Art, Cubism, Surrealism, Contemporary, Street, etc. No installations, videos, film, digital imagery, or work produced by any commercial printing process (exception: photography.)

Works cannot exceed a weight of 50 pounds. Work cannot be longer/larger than 48 inches in its longest dimension. Depending on artist involvement with installation, these stipulations may be waived.

This is a juried exhibition. 

Juror:

We are very excited to introduce this years exhibition juror, Cheryl Gleason. Cheryl is the artistic director / curator at Mills Station Art and Culture Center (The MACC) in Rancho Cordova, and an award-winning artist. She attended UC Davis, where she studied with amazing art instructors, including David Hollowell, who had the greatest influence on her as a student and artist. She has a Master of Education in Online Teaching and Learning from California State University East Bay.

Cheryl Gleason is a multi-disciplinary artist living and working in the Sacramento area. Her non-figurative and abstract work reflects places and imagery that have made an impression on her unconscious mind. While, generally, she does not use photographs as direct references in her work, locales, images, shapes and textures captured in photographs may show up in her artwork, sometimes years after they were recorded. While every work starts with scribbles on a panel, eventually, through color, shape, line, texture and composition, a landscape of Cheryl’s unconscious mind emerges. gleasongallery.com

Image Submission Tips: The $25 entry fee covers 1 entry. Each additional submission over 1 submission is an additional $5, and artists can submit up to 6 works to be juried for the show. Eventbrite fees are paid by applicants.

Accepted works arrive by:	Sunday March 29 & Monday March 30 between 11:00am – 4:00pm
When to pick up work/expect your work back (if it does not sell):	The final day of the exhibition is Saturday, April 25, 2026. Artwork must be picked up Sunday April 26 or Monday April 27, 2026 between 11:00am-4:00pm. Shipped work is generally shipped back out by the following Wednesday after the last day of the show. This may vary.
Payments	If you sell a piece, payments are settled after the exhibition ends. Expect your check in the mail a few weeks after the exhibition ends. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR ADDRESS IS CORRECT IN THE APPLICATION.

Submissions	All entries and payments must be submitted via Eventbrite. Please follow the directions on Eventbrite. If you have exhibition questions, please contact lynnm@champagnedesignco.com. Please note that artists with questions or technical difficulties who are submitting within 24 hours of the deadline and/or outside of business hours may not receive help in time. Please leave ample time for your submissions to avoid any issues.
Limitations and Artwork Specifications	Works cannot exceed a weight of 50 pounds. Work must be over 10″ and cannot be longer/larger than 48 inches in its longest dimension. Depending on artist involvement with installation, these stipulations may be waived. *** Size and weight restrictions may be waived by contacting the Call Manager directly prior to submission. If you have a question about if your work qualifies, please email lynnm@champagnedesignco.com. ALL WORK MUST BE HANG/PRESENTATION READY. Wrapped canvases that are not framed must have finished edges. All 2D artwork must have a wire for hanging. All 3D works that requires presentation other than standard pedestals must include those items with the works. Works that require special installation must come with clear instructions. Any works that require complicated specialized installation must be installed by the artist. We reserve the right to reject work from the exhibition that differs significantly from the submitted images and/or not presentable to gallery standards. (For example, if framing is chipped, scratched or not assembled correctly, matboard are dirty or discolored, and other supporting elements do not meet our gallery presentation standards.)

Shipping

The artist is responsible for shipping costs to and from the gallery. Please send work to: Gallery 10 15A Eureka Street Sutter Creek, CA 95685 (209) 267-0203 NO FREIGHT SHIPPING PLEASE. NO PACKING PEANUTS. Works packaged with packing peanuts will be returned immediately and not included in the exhibition. Artists must issue pre-paid return labels for their works through UPS or FedEx. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR RETURN LABEL IS EASY TO FIND UPON UNPACKING. We do not arrange shipping in any other manner. Works must have pre-paid return labels through FedEx or UPS to be returned which allows us to call for pick up as the Gallery’s insurance does not cover transporting work offsite to local shipping companies or the United States Postal Service, which is why the postal service is not an option for shipping. Clearly indicate any packing directions for return of works. Works should be shipped in reusable containers/boxes and packaging for return. Legal Agreement

If your work is selected:

1. Gallery 10 staff will take great care handling artwork for the exhibition. However, Gallery 10, its staff, and gallery are not responsible for any damage that may occur. We strongly recommend artists insure the works themselves, and also purchase insurance from the shipping company used.

**Disclaimer: Gallery 10 does not cover damage to art during shipping and transit to or from the Gallery. Artists should insure all work to and from the Gallery.

2. It is the artist’s responsibility to ensure that their mailing address is correct.
3. Gallery 10 lists exhibiting work for sale using the price of the work listed on the artist’s entry. It is the artist’s responsibility to ensure that their sale price is correct in their entry, or to otherwise notify the gallery manager. If the artist fails to list the price correctly or fails to otherwise notify the gallery manager, Gallery 10 is not finically responsible if the work was sold at the entry listed price. Please note that Gallery 10 commission on sales is 60/40 (60% artist, 40% Gallery 10)
4. If shipping, the artist is responsible for shipping costs to and from the gallery. Artists must provide a return label. Works that are not provided with a return label from the artist within one (1) month of the end of the exhibition become property of Gallery 10. Works that are not picked up within one (1) month of the end of the exhibition become property of Gallery 10.

***Shipping and hand delivering your work for exhibit participation to Gallery 10 means you agree to all of the above – items 1 -4.
